Religion or Salvation, Which Have You?

Throughout the year, we find many religious celebrations being conducted.  The natural man or woman wants to be religious.  He or she will do many things, thinking that he or she is performing acts of worship unto God that will ensure him or her a place in heaven.

The Holy Bible teaches us that religion is not salvation.  The Word of God tells us that you can be religious and miss heaven.  Countless millions have suffered this tragedy and millions more will tread this same path to destruction.  The Lord gives us a stern warning that we should not follow our own ideas and thoughts.  We are to heed the Holy Bible and trust in the Lord:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."  Proverbs 3:5

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:  because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,..."  Hosea 4:6

The Holy Bible clearly states that salvation can only be attained through Christ Jesus, the Son of God.  There is no other name given under heaven whereby we can be saved.  You are saved by Christ Jesus or you are not saved:

"Neither is there salvation in any other:  for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  Acts 4:12

How clear and concise: the Holy Bible abolishes any confusion or contradiction.  In spite of this, there are many names under heaven where one can find religion.  Nevertheless, salvation can only be found in one name; the name of Christ Jesus.

There is no salvation in priests, prophets, penance or prayers.  You may attend various religious services, churches and sacraments.  You may donate to charities and perform volunteer work for religious organisations.  You may have your tears and treasures, rituals, reformations, baptismal services and church memberships.  All are powerless to produce eternal life.

The Holy Bible tells us precisely how to obtain eternal life:

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."  1 John 5:11, 12

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:  and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  John 3:36

Men and women are willing to give head knowledge to the claims of Christianity, but they refuse to accept Christ Jesus into their hearts and be born again by God's Holy Spirit.  You must accept Christ Jesus into your heart and be born again by God's Holy Spirit to become a Child of God and receive eternal life:

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  John 14:6

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. "  John 1:12

Men and women are willing to believe the moral precepts of God's Word as based on the Ten Commandments.  However, they refuse to believe in, rest upon and receive Christ Jesus, God's only begotten Son, as Saviour to their souls.

God's commandments and precepts instruct us how to live righteously in the beauty of holiness.  We should obey the Lord and do according to His will.  However, following God's commandments and precepts will not grant salvation or eternal life.

To receive eternal life and live with the Lord forever, you must receive Christ Jesus into your heart as Lord and Saviour and be born again by God's Holy Spirit.  Here is a simple comparison between religion and salvation through Christ Jesus:

RELIGION is the improvement of the old nature. SALVATION is the imparting of a new nature through receiving Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord.  The Holy Bible tells us in John 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
RELIGION clothes us with the robes of our own righteousness.  The Holy Bible states that our righteousness is as a filthy rag.  Isaiah 64:6 declares, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away." SALVATION clothes us in the perfect righteousness of Christ Jesus.  The righteousness of Christ Jesus alone makes us acceptable in the sight of God.  The Holy Bible states in Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"
RELIGION is what man does for God. SALVATION is what God does for man.  The Holy Bible asserts in Isaiah 53:6, "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
RELIGION says, "Something in my hand I bring." SALVATION says, "Nothing in my hand I bring."  Ephesians 2:8, 9 proclaims, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any many should boast."
RELIGION is trusting in a work we do. SALVATION is trusting in a work that has been done through Christ Jesus.  Hebrews 10:10 affirms, "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
RELIGION depends on our behaving. SALVATION depends on our believing.  Acts 16:31 states, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
RELIGION says we must act our best. SALVATION says we must accept God's best.  Romans 6:23 declares, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
RELIGION depends on the sufficiency of character. SALVATION depends on the Sacrifice of the Cross.  1 Corinthians 1:18 states, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."
RELIGION tries to furnish a sacrifice. SALVATION trusts in a finished sacrifice.  John 19:30 proclaims, "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said IT IS FINISHED:  and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
RELIGION is striving for a better attainment. SALVATION is secured through a perfect atonement.  1 Peter 1:18, 19 declares, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish or spot:"
RELIGION tries to bring us from darkness to light. SALVATION brings us from death unto Life.  John 5:24 attests, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
RELIGION says we must be found in God's house. SALVATION says we must be found in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:9 attests, "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Precious reader, we remind you of the truth of the Holy Bible:

"Neither is there salvation in any other:  for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  Acts 4:12

  Have you religion or salvation?

If you only have religion, you will miss heaven and spend eternity apart from God and His Son, Christ Jesus, in a place of everlasting torment.

If you have salvation, you have the promise of eternal life with God and His Son, Christ Jesus, forevermore.  If Christ Jesus is not your personal Lord and Saviour, we plead with you to ask Christ Jesus to come into your heart.

The Lord has prepared a place for you in heaven.  You must live for the Lord to be with Him for eternity.  Eternal life is a free gift from Christ Jesus.  Become a Child of God.  It is a true joy and very worthwhile:

1) Confess you are a sinner.

2) Ask Christ Jesus to forgive you of your sins.

3) Repent from sinful ways and behaviours.  Do not continue to behave or act wickedly.

4) Ask Christ Jesus to come into your heart and renew your mind, body and soul.

5) Establish a relationship with the Lord.  Begin by reading the Gospel of John.  Talk to the Lord and pray to Christ Jesus to help you along your new way of living for the Lord.

If you do these things and continue to walk in the ways and commandments of the Lord, Christ Jesus and the angels will welcome you into heaven after you take your last breath on earth.

Read your Bible daily.  The Bible will strengthen you as you walk with the Lord.  Call us on our toll free Prayer Line @ 1-800-4PRAYER.  Committed believers in Christ Jesus are standing by.  You are in our prayers.  Your Salvation is priceless!
